HEAVY and TOXIC METALS
POWERPOINT PROJECT

1 . You will be assigned a metal to research using available resources in the LMC.

2 You should make use of the Internet as well as the vertical file, publications and encyclopedias. You must have at least 4 resources in your bibliography.

3 You will have two days in class to work on the projects. Presentations are due on the 3rd of November. They must be turned in on a computer disk.

4 Your presentation must be formatted in the following manner:

a Slide 1: Symbol and name of the Element, plus an image.

b Slide 2: Sources of the element, uses of the element and its compounds in industry.

c Slide 3: Toxic effects and symptoms(on humans and/or plants), Exposure limits ( ppm, pph, concentrations?)

d Slide 4: Bibliography. Your name should appear at the bottom center of this slide. For references from the Internet, you may give the URL for the website.

5. Creativity: The presentation should be pleasing to the eye and should contain pictures, images or objects where appropriate. Do not allow the presentation to contain only text. Use of color and/or design will make the presentation more attractive, and increase its visual impact. You must use a minimum of 2 images downloaded from the www.

6. Neatness: The presentation should contain no spelling or grammatical errors.

Other points to consider:

* For this power point assignment DO NOT use any videos. Also do not crowd your slides with too many graphics or too much color.

* Pay attention to font size. Those watching your presentation may not be able to read the information if the font size is too small.

* You can use the slide layout views and themes in Power point to give your presentation consistency and a professional look.

* Get started early! You will have some class time to do the research on your element, but you cannot hope to do an excellent job if you wait until the night before it is due to try to put it together. This project is worth 50 points.
